The Good Fool by UmehWrites

The problem is that you’re too good to a fault. Too good that the word ‘good’ is a wrong depiction of your true character. Too good that it’s better to call you bad than good, because you’re world apart from the best, your spirit man feels insulted to be called anything better than the good fool.

We’ve heard stories of selfless people who laid down their life for others, people who lose their identity in a struggle to make life easier for those they love. And although yours is a similar story, you execute acts of extreme emotion, that even the Good Samaritan would not approve of.

I heard your spirit man lamenting in the wilderness. You’re starving yet you buy lunch for strangers. You repeat 3 cloth 7 times a week, but you’re saving to buy Asoebi for everyone in the whatsapp group. Your rent is due, but you feel it would be nice to spend on throwing a surprise party for a friend.

Your priorities do not have a scale of preference. Whatever feels good, whatever gives you temporal joy…the consequences does not matter. The future will sort its self you say…but every night before you sleep, you cry while you pray for help.

And when people do not return the kind of energy you give, when people do not turn up for you, you feel betrayed and depressed, because you expect more from people who rate you below par. You begin to say people are wicked, whereas you’re the foolish one.

Oh though good fool, learn to love yourself some more. Learn to plan and stick close to it, than letting random things destabilize your plans. Learn to be bad in some things, because you need it in this wicked world. To strike a balance, you should be good but not to a fault. Bad in good ways that are not related to evil. Control your emotions and not let it overwhelm your decision process, and be wise in ways that are not too good to be called a fool.
